How to access, export, or delete your data & answers to common questions

The following answers address common questions about how we handle your data. If you need more detail, contact us at the addresses below.

What personal and operational data is collected?

We collect the information you provide when registering and using the service (for example, name, email address, pilot certifications, company information) and operational data generated by the service such as flight logs, GPS coordinates, flight paths, drone/equipment details, battery/maintenance records, and any photos or media you upload. We also collect automatic information such as IP addresses, device/browser information, and usage logs.

Is data encrypted at rest and in transit?

Yes. Data in transit is protected using TLS (HTTPS). Sensitive data and backups are encrypted at rest using strong encryption algorithms where supported by our hosting provider (for example, AES-256).

Is data shared with third parties?

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with trusted third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf (for example, weather APIs). We may disclose information to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests by public authorities (including aviation authorities), or to protect rights and safety. Any third parties that process personal data on our behalf are required to implement appropriate safeguards and use the data only for authorized purposes.

Can you delete or export your data?

Yes. You can request an export of your account data (flight logs, attachments, account profile) in a machine-readable format. You can also request deletion of your account and associated personal data. Deletions are subject to verification and may be delayed or limited where we must retain data for legal, regulatory, or safety reasons (for example, aviation record-keeping requirements). To request export or deletion, contact privacy@uavlogbook.com.

What happens to your data if you close your account?

When you close or delete your account, we will disable access to your account immediately and schedule your data for deletion. In most cases, account data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Backup copies may remain for an additional period (commonly up to 90 days) for disaster recovery purposes, and some records may be retained longer if required by law. We will notify you if we are unable to complete deletion for legal reasons.
